BLU DOT TO OPEN FLAGSHIP STORE IN SOHO
Holy crap! Are we nuts? Will you please come and buy stuff so we can pay our rent? Please? Yes… it’s true…we will be opening the first Blu Dot store at 140 Wooster St. in New York City this November. No…we have never done this before…but we have been working pretty hard over the last few years to build a complete, cohesive collection with pieces for every room in the house. And we are anxious for the opportunity for it all to be shown together in one amazing space. And it is an amazing space — formerly the Stussy store (pictured) — and was originally designed by Nick Dine. We will leave the bones largely intact but will add select elements that convey the Blu Dot per sonality and sense of humor. We will have great neighbors with DWR’s Tools for Living next door and Cappellini, Desiron, Ligne Roset, Cassina and Poltona Frau all on the same block. Moss and B&B Italia are just one block east. Tell all your friends, pass it along, come one, come all.
WILL IT BLEND?
Perhaps inspired by Dan Akroyd’s classic Bass-O-Matic, the makers of the Blendtec Total Blender have created a great marketing campaign by attempting to blend anything and everything in their (seemingly) hyper-powerful blender. Set to cheesy game show music, company founder Tom Dickson blends golf balls, a can of Spam with can included, six Bic lighters, and most amazingly, an iPhone 3G. Check it out at www.willitblend.com.
LOOKING FOR FRIENDLY MODERNISTS
We are hiring several positions for the SoHo store and also for our DotSpot inside ABC Carpet and Home. Design junkies with an outgoing personality and a friendly disposition wanted. Job descriptions for the Store Manager position and the Sales Associate position are on the New York craigslist or send cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org. Pass it on to any who may be interested.
www.Failblog.org, devoted to things gone bad, is endless fun. This “scrapbooking” mishap — one of our favorites.
NEW DOT SPOTS OPEN AT CENTURY HOUSE IN MADISON AND I.D. CHICAGO
Making sure that no one in the Midwest is without their Blu Dot, we have added two new Dot Spot retailers not far from our neck of the woods. Century House in Madison, Wisconsin, has been bringing modern design to one of our favorite university towns for over 60 years. They have opened a new annex across the street from their original location, which prominently features an extensive sampling of Blu Dot product.
I.D. Modern Home in Chicago takes a gallery approach to their intimate yet impressive showroom. They have generously filled the space with a solid representation of Blu Dot goods that reflects their modern point of view.
We could not be more excited to be partnering with these outstanding modern retailers. Both stores will be hosting Dot Spot launch events soon. We will keep you posted. Stop by and see them and tell them Blu Dot sent you.
